The visuals and atmosphere of the world are top notch. They really made the playful and sunny San Francisco area come alive. All of the NPC interaction, and the fact that the NPCs are constantly going about their routines and have detailed behavior really make the world feel alive because they don’t just feel like some static placeholders in the background. This game’s open world might be one of the most detailed, immersive, and convincing one I’ve ever played in. Like I said, IMO this feels like the most “hacker” way to play that fits with the game because you are using your full arsenal of tricks. Its really cool because Marcus is never actually seen or in danger, and if your RC car or drone are blown up, you’re still safe and can start over again. This style usually consists of parking Marcus at the edge of a mission zone (be it behind a fence or something) and sending your robots to do all the work. You use your RC car and quadcopter drone to complete the missions by distracting and setting booby traps for enemies, remotely hacking objectives with your RC car, calling in cops/gangs to confront the guards in the areas you hack, etc. Trickster is in my opinion the most fun because it utilizes all of the various hacks and gadgets you have the most out of the three styles. I found a good balance of non-lethal/lethal that I think makes sense and fits with the theme of the game.
Use your gadgets, RC car & quadcopter, hacks, stealth, and other hacking related things and you’ll have a much better time. It makes zero sense for a hactivist group to be running around gunning down people in the streets. This game is at it’s best when you DO NOT play it like GTA.
WD2 takes the hacking formula, puts a relevant “hacktivist” modern (and sometimes heavy handed hipster) spin on it, and outshines the first game in pretty much every way. Overview Watch Dogs Legion:Ī huge improvement over WD1.
